Less than ten days after PNoy unveiled his plan for public-private partnerships as the vehicle through which he would pay for social and physical infrastructure citing a potential $100-million deal covering the lease of the naval facilities on Roxas Blvd as an example, San Miguel vice chair Ramon S Ang has upped the ante with a $10-billion deal to purchase Pagcor, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation.
Should the government sell all of its stake in Pagcor given the potential for it to realize better returns in the future if it holds on to a minority stake in it? Or should the government attempt go straight to the market and privatize the company by floating it in the stock exchange by itself?
