Gibo favors constitutional convention if people want it

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines – Lakas-Kampi-CMD standard-bearer Gilberto “Gibo” Teodoro Jr. favors a constitutional convention (con-con) to amend some economic provisions in the 1987 Constitution.
“I favor con-con because it is more acceptable,” the former defense chief said in Filipino.
He said, however, he would only push for it if it is supported by the people.
“But if the people are against it, why would you support it? Why would you push through with it?” he said.
Teodoro yesterday joined his local supporters in celebrating the Panagbenga Festival, the annual flower festival in the city.
He said the process of changing constitutional provisions should always be acceptable to the people.
“I learned from the process. It should be clear and acceptable to the people. If there is doubt, we will not push it,” he said. – Jaime Laude
