New Earthquake strikes Northeastern Japan

A magnitude 7.1 Earthquake struck Honshu, Japan at 23:32:41 local time 66 km of Sendai, Honshu, Japan. Earlier report from USGS indicated that it was a 7.4M. Tsunami waring issued, but no reports of damage or tsunami. US stocks fell sharply as news of a new earthquake struck Japan circulated. Reuters reports no casualties or damaged at Fukushima Nuclear power plant. According to Japan Meteorological Agency, this quake appears to have been an aftershock of 11 March M9.0 Earthquake.

Voice of America’s Steve Herman reported that according to Japan’s Nuclear agency, Onagawa nuclear plant in Miyagi-ken loses 2 of 3 external power grids after earthquake. NISA added that the nuclear plant is fine with just one remaining grid of external power.
