Typhoon Bebeng (Aere) strikes Philippines (Monday Afternoon update)

PAGASA Bebeng Storm Track Monday, 9 May 2011 (Afternoon)
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) noted that as of 4 o’clock in the afternoon, Typhoon Bebeng was 50 kilometers East of Tuguegarao City. It was moving North at 15 kilometers per hour. Its maximum sustaned winds fell to 75 kilometers per hour near the center, and up to 90 kilometer per hour gusts, down from 85 kilometers per hour, and 100 kilometers per hour based on earlier reports.

The weather bureau continues to advice the public to expect rain to fall over western Luzon, and to take precaution against landslides and flashfloods.

The government raised storm signal no 2. over Cagayan and Isabela provinces.

Storm signal no. 1 is currently hoisted over the provinces of Aurora, Quirino, Ifugao, Mt. Province, Kalinga, Apayao, Babuyan, Calayan group of islands, and Batanes.
