If ringsiders think Juan Manuel Marquez is on his way down after what Floyd Mayweather Jr. did to him in 2009, the Mexican counter-puncher believes they’re in for a surprise.
Speaking to ESPN Radio, Marquez said Mayweather’s safety-first style could not bring out the best in him but Manny Pacquiao’s devil-may-care attitude would make him look sensational.
Marquez is facing Pacquiao in a rubber match on Nov. 12 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and the 37-year-old reigning world lightweight king insists he is going to put on a show.
“Here we have two fighters [Marquez and Pacquiao] on the ring who likes to fight and that will be the difference,” he stressed.
Marquez harbors ill will towards Pacquiao following the controversial ending of their two fights in 2004 and 2008.
