10 to 15 mm per hour of rain pours down, floods Metro Manila, strands passengers

PAGASA reported that 10 to 15 mm per hour of rain poured down Metro Manila.  Massive rainfall has created flooding in much of the capital, stranding motorists and commuters alike.  Ondoy poured down 56.mm.   For instance, Marikina River has started to overflow.

@doblezeta tweeted a report coming in from CB radio, “dagat na dito sa may EDSA Taft rotunda“. (It is already a sea here at EDSA Taft rotunda).

As of 8:40 PM, New and Old Zaniga is knee deep @MMDA tweeted.  SM Sucat A Santos avenue, is the same. Taft Avenue Vito Cruz is 26-inches of flood water.

According to @SarahBulus, the service road going to Merville subdivision in Paranaque City is also flooded, with vehicles not able to pass.  Villamor is also heavy traffic.

According to @MMDA, España Lerma, and RMB Pureza are gutter deep.  Burgos in front of Bonifacio Shrine to Lawton overpass has 19-inches of water.  Osmena hi-way from Bangkal to Buendia got 25-inches of water. Maria Clara Street in Manila is experiencing 5 to 6 inches, while Maysilo, Mandaluyong is suffering from 8-inches of water.  Pio Valenzuela has 12-inches and MH del PIlar Dampalit has 12-inches.

@emplyan asked if this was Ondoy 2 on twitter, and says, Buendia looks like a river.

@raffytima also reported on twitter that Pasong Tamo is not passable for small vehicles.  Stranded passengers have decided to walk.

Multiple reports are also coming in that E. Rodriguez in Quezon City is not passable as well.  Flood waters rising very quickly.  A tweet on the status of Araneta Avenue: flood reaches chest level.

The Philippine National Police spokesperson Agrimero Cruz announced that the PNP has deployed 6×6 trucks to assist stranded passengers.
