Tornado (Twister) strikes Quezon City

The NDRCC reported that a tornado or twister occurred in Sikatuna Village, and in Timog Avenue corner EDSA, both in Quezon City. The incident happened at 11:00 Am on 24 June 2011.

The tornado affected Barangay Immaculate Balete Drive, Corner 9th Street, Hibiscus Street and 6th Street corner Balete Drive; Bongavilla corner Cannon Street, Barangay Mariana, and New Manila.

The tornado damaged 15 houses, as well as causing a fence of the Kamuning Police station to collapse. It also uprooted trees and made electric posts fall.

Lily Rose Cesista sustained minor injuries in the incident. Cesista slipped as she ran away from her house. Ms. Cesista was taken to the National Orthopedic Hospital by a Barangay Kagawad.
