Tourism Secretary Alberto Lim said tourists’ expenditure is expected to reach P900 billion this year, from P800 billion last year, on account of full blast tourism campaigns and promotions here and abroad.
Foreign tourist arrival is targeted to hit 3.7 million, from 3.5 million last year, while domestic tourist is forecast to reach 29 million, from 27.9 million last year.
A local tourist, Lim said, spends an average of P2,000 per travel while a foreigner spends $83 a day or $686 per travel.
He said revenues from tourism will be further boosted by 8 projects lined up starting this year at a cost of P20 billion to P50 billion.
A Japanese group is investing in a telecommunication tower in Quezon City while Koreans are bidding for a beach resort in Subic with investment of P10 billion and another beach resort in Guiuan, Samar.
