Typhoon Pedring upgraded to Category 3 storm

Typhoon Pedring (Nesat) as of 0200 local time is a category 3 storm with 194 kilometers per hour winds and gusts approaching 241 kilometers per hour. Pedring is projected to weaken to a Category 2 storm with 157 kilometers per hour winds as it approaches East of Baguio City. According to the Philippine Atmospheric and Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, estimated rainfall amount is from 15 – 25 mm per hour within the 650 km diameter of the typhoon.

Pedring made landfall at Aurora, Isabela at 0400, local time.

PAGASA raised storm signal no. 3 on the following provinces: Aurora, Isabela, Cagayan, Kalinga, Mt. Province, Ifugao, Nueva Viscaya and Quirino. Storm signal no. 2 is up on Ilocos Norte, Ilocas Sur, Abra, Apayao, La Union, Benguet, Pangasinan, Zambales, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Bulacan, Metro Manila, Rizal, Quezon including Polillo Island, Bataan, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur and Catanduanes. Signal no. 1 is up on Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Marinduque, Albay, Sorsogon, Burias and Lubang Islands, Babuyan Romblon, and Calayan grp. Of Islands.

The Western and Central seaboards of Visayas are projected to have monsoon rains with rough to very rough seas. The Eastern seaboard of Visays will be cloudy with scattered rain showers, and thunderstorms. The Western seaboard of Mindanao will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and rough to very rough seas.
