What’s the connection?

Fr. Edu Gariguez, CBCP-National Secretariat for Social Action, Justice and Peace (Nassa) executive secretary, is dismayed by the appointment of Atty. Francis Jardeleza as Solicitor General to replace resigned SG Anselmo Cadiz because Jardeleza was a lawyer of businessman Eduardo “Danding” Cojuangco, first cousin of President Aquino’s mother. “We will organize protests to raise our strong opposition against the President’s appointment of Uncle Danding Cojuangco’s lawyer…We are really dismayed. This appears to be a grand scheme there, a motive in the appointment of Jardeleza…. This is a big slap to the farmers. How can the new solicitor general treat issues fairly when he is the lawyer of the Cojuangcos, ” said Fr. Edu Gariguez.

Hacienda Luisita was bought by Jose Cojuangco, father of Corazon Cojuangco Aquino, from Tabacalera in 1958. His heirs own the hacienda. Danding Cojuangco is not an heir of Jose Cojuangco and so he has not been a litigant in the Hacienda Luisita cases. Where’s the connection between Danding and his lawyer and Hacienda Luisita? Better yet, what did the priest, Edu Gariguez, smoke?

But seriously, should Fr. Gariguez be taken seriously?

Where did Fr what’s-his-name get the thought that Cojuangco or Hacienda Luuisita stockholders can influence Malakanyang and/or PersiDente Noynoy???   Are there deputy-directors or higher inside Malakanyang whose bloodline tracks to the Cojuangcos?  Did someone say Lacierda is related to the Cojuangcos?  Or is it Mislang?
