Contempt and Respect

This is the return of the Second Envelope.

Private prosecutor Vitaliano Aguirre was caught covering his ears while Senator-Judge Miriam Santiago went, for a lack of better term— ballistic. Vitaliano Aguirre was cited for contempt by the Impeachment Court for behavior that was disrespectful, and unbecoming of a member of the Bar.

Throughout this whole saga there have been far, far greater examples of disrespect. The Defense accusing Senators of being on the take. A move that some characterized as forestalling a verdict against them. One could argue that the Impeachment Court is assembled to try Renato C. Corona on betrayal of public trust. If the Palace had broken the same thread, wouldn’t it be in the service of justice to put the Executive Secretary to task, for his alleged bribery? And when no evidence was presented, when the Defense practically slandered not just the Senator-Judges but the Executive Secretary and the President, in that instance, was the Defense charged with Contempt? Where was the respect for due process then? Where was the respect for law, except to pander to public opinion?

How about the rest of the prosecution? When they were pandering to the media, releasing documents, shouldn’t that have been equally disrespectful? Shouldn’t they have been charged with contempt as well, for releasing documents to the public and not to the Impeachment Court?

And how about the Supreme Court for refusing to allow its members to serve as witnesses. For Midas Marquez blatant bias to protect his boss? Shouldn’t those people be cited for contempt because they disrespect our nation, and our people with such self-centered tactics, with such utter disregard for human decency?

What transpired today was rage unchecked. Ego-tripping. Emotions running high, and ego bruised. So today, the Senate lost all credibility for me. Every politician should retire, and let kids run this country without the old guard. The way this circus is being run, no matter how intelligent people are, it is all for nothing when rage, and emotion run unchecked, and civility thrown out the window. When all we have to show for ourselves is the ability to heckle, and troll. Where then is justice not just for Renato C. Corona, much more for We the People, starving and thirsty for a less corrupt, better society? Perhaps, this nation is best run by 18 year olds because you guys all need parents. This is a battle for Human Decency. As a citizen, could I charge you all with contempt for your disrespect of generations of Filipinos living today, and yet to come?

Judge or Lawyer; Professional or Undergraduate; Rich or Poor; respect should be accorded to all!!!  No matter how smart, brainy, brilliant a person was if she do not know how to respect other people she’s a good for nothing.

Conrado deQuiros will remind you there is still a super-duper ubud-ng-mabait na PersiDente.

On the other hand, PersiNoynoy showed his influence and power when he was able to very swiftly assemble then get 188 signatures on the letter of impeachment (… Signatures that PersiNoynoy got via influence-peddling with big-money promises… a teeny-teeny-very-small number of Pinoys in Pilipinas and outside had said (… but these small number have no ebi-densiya )

Kaya nga sabi ni Conrado deQuiros — TARA NA!! ( Pero paligiran muna ang Camp Crame at ibang military bases…. baka ma-kialam ang mga sundalo kung  isara ng Presidente ang Senado at ang Kongreso. )
