Newsbreak reports on capture of senior CPP leader Allan Jazmines

A key leader and strategist of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) was arrested late afternoon today in Bulacan by a joint team of the Army and local police.

The arrest of Allan Jazmines, member of the CPP central committee and suspected secretary-general of the party, comes as the government and the CPP renew formal talks in Oslo, Norway. It also happened on the eve of a week-long ceasefire announced by both sides.

Jazmines told his captors he was covered by Jasig, or the Joint Agreement on Security and Immunity Guarantees that should spare those on the list from arrest, military intelligence sources told Newsbreak.
