President Aquino has named Lieutenant General Eduardo Oban, Jr. as the next Armed Forces Chief of Staff, to succeed General Ricardo David. Aquino named Oban as his choice during his speech before the Philippine Military Academy during this year’s graduation rites.
Oban, according to the Philippine Daily Inquirer is a member of PMA Class 1979. Prior to his appointment, was deputy chief of staff for administration and supervision of the joint coordinating, technical and special staffs of the military headquarters. Oban was a graduate of the University of Santo Tomas, prior to entering the Philippine Military Academy. He is also a holder of a Master’s in Business Economics from the University of Asia and the Pacific.
According to ABS-CBN News, General Oban will hold the position for less than a year.
